Jalapeno Black Bean Burgers

Black Bean Burgers -1-1

These spicy plant-based burgers are full of protein and go so well on top of a salad or on a bun with all your favorite toppings.Serves 4

OPN Conversion: Per burger- 1 starch + 1/2 protein


  • 1 can of black beans, rinsed & drained
  • 1/2 white onion
  • Grated 1/2 cup oat flour (3/4 cup oats ground into flour)
  • Handful of spinach
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cajun spice
  • 1 small jalapeno, chopped
  • Salt & pepper to taste


  1. Mash the black beans with a fork
  2. Combine everything together in a large bowl until well combined
  3. Form into burgers (makes 4 regular sized)
  4. Grill on a pan until brown on both sides. Can be stored in freezer for up to 6 months.
